The official competition offers the best level of riding and sailing in Mexico

Sailing

In January, the wind usually blows around 12-25 Knt and the water is flat on the course racing area, with some wind shifts and gusts making racing very interesting. The event takes place at Puerto Cancun sailing club, which offers fans the opportunity to watch the racing unfold very close to the beach.

Kiteboarding

Mayan Wind fest will have 4 different categories: Island crossing, Woo High Jump, Big air / Old School & freestyle new school. Kitefoil riders will also have regattas along with the sailing event. Cancun is the first stop of the AMK Mexican tour, followed by the Kite together fest on Yucatan in April and the Festival del Viento at Nayarit in May. During these 3 events with unified categories, riders will score points for a national ranking and finally crown the Mexican Kitesurfing champions at the end of the tour.

Wingfoiling

Cancun has one of the best downwind runs in the world for a very smooth ride, with great bumps and just the right distance for a safe and easy logistics. Mayan Wind Fest has 3 different categories:

The Island crossing from Cancun to Isla Mujeres (round trip) is the main event. The South point of the island is located perfectly in front of Puerto Cancun, 10Km away, allowing a perfect side wind, leg burning run.

The Downwinder starts from Playa Caracol and goes all the way to the main event site in Puerto Cancun. It’s 9km long and the bumps are very good. It’s not a race, just a great wingfoiling meeting so you can do what you like the most in great conditions, with a lot of riders and turtles.

The Slalom racing is especially for amateur riders who will be able to compete with some of the best riders in the world. There are 5 to 8 short races planned, between 5 and 15 minutes, the course will be orientated slightly downwind to make a W slalom course with 4 jibes and a finish line right in front of the beach.

Windsurfing

The Isla Mujeres crossing is the venue for the Windsurf 2024 National Championship and will have 2 different categories:

Island crossing. 20 km island crossing from Cancun to Isla Mujeres (round trip) will be the main event of the Mayan Wind Fest. The South point of the island is located perfectly in front of Puerto Cancun, 10Km away, allowing a perfect side wind, leg burning run.

The course racing will be a conventional regatta, opened for the following classes: IQ Foil, Techno 293 & Windsurfer LT. Windsurfer and sailors will have a course racing area located upwind from the main event site. They will do 3 to 5 upwind - downwind races per day.
