One of the most important races held in Italy is visiting Mexico for the first time.  On 9 March, amateur cyclists will be able to cycle through the state of Guanajuato.

The route starts at 70 km and goes from 140 km to 275 km. The competitors will leave San Miguel de Allende, pass through Dolores Hidalgo, reach Guanajuato’s capital and return to San Miguel de Allende.  There, contestants and spectators will enjoy a gastronomic experience and learn about the wine tourism offered by Viñedo San Lucas and this beautiful city.

Lorenzo Vianello commented “we will make a special and specific competition for 30 U21 athletes who will be invited to the race, so that the two winners will go all expenses paid by us to Italy to do a training experience and training with the winning team,” said the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.

While the H.E. Ambassador of Italy in Mexico said, “this race is the first time that we export it abroad as one of the most sensitive and most important products of Italy,” and continued “we in Italy consider sport extremely important, because sport is one of the most important means to go to the people, to support multiculturalism, it’s what we call sport diplomacy and this is the typical example through which sport can strengthen relations between two countries, so it seems to me a wonderful idea,” said Alessandro Modiano.

In addition to la Classicissima, the state of Guanajuato aims to show guests its architectural, cultural and oenological environment. This race demonstrates the close ties that Mexico and Italy have had for 150 years in the economic, cultural and sporting relationship, which will undoubtedly continue in crescendo.
